High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo of Lake of the Clouds in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Such a beautiful place, would love to go back when the colors change.

Fence Lake Sunset

My first time lapse with the D800. Could not be happier! Shot at 1 frame every 5 seconds for 25 minutes. Settings on manual at ISO 100, 1/10 at f4. Near the end you will see a "blue blip" as the sky shifts from blue gray to blue. I think this is because I still had the camera on automatic white balance. I should have set this at manual as well.

Milky Way over Fence Lake

My first attempt at photographing the Milky Way. It is so diffucult to find a truely dark place anymore. This lake in Northern Wisconsin is the darkest I have seen in a long time. However, you can see the lights of a town far away illuminating the local clouds. I love the sense of scale (mind boggling scale) that is achieved by including the trees in the foreground. Used a slightly too long exposure, so I will try different shutter speed and aperature next time.
