Amtrak 90230 Casades

Amtrak 90230 Casades, originally uploaded by WhereRu.
Amtrak 90230 sporing the Cascades paint scheme. Shot at the Wadsworth, IL crossing.  This was also interesting as it was Veteran's Day.  So I normally do not hang out at railroad crossings.  There were two elderly "rail fans" at the crossing.  They were both armed with scanners because their buddies "up the line" were notifying them of the trains headed their way.  They both had log books to record the engine number.  They said it is rare to see a Cascades paint scheme in this part of the country.  Also while we were there they both "logged" an engine that went by that they had been waiting nearly 30 years to see.  Nikon D300, 80-200mm at 80mm.

Angry Clouds

Angry Clouds, originally uploaded by WhereRu.
Clouds are actually difficult to capture. In this case what I saw with my eyes was captured as a nice uniform gray by the camera. Adjustment of levels and I was able to reproduce the angry, foreboding nature of what I saw that morning.  Nikon D300, 17-35mm lens, 17mm.
